David Hart Gallery

David Hart has several galleries around the Sunshine coast. I recently visited the Mooloolaba gallery for the first time and was amazed by how incredible the experience was. When you walk into David Hart’s gallery you get the sense of class and wealth, from the shine on the polished floors to the neat framed presentation of each artwork. I noticed walking through the gallery that all the artworks complement each other with similar colours and mediums. Each painting in the gallery has a vivid red somewhere within it and when you look at the gallery as a whole you realise that this connects each piece together and has a rather huge impact overall.
Pro Hart The Folly Horse 2003
This gallery incorporates a family generation of artists starting with Pro Hart. Pro Hart’s work is rather diverse, from traditional landscapes right through to etchings. Pro Hart not only had a talent for all things art but he incorporates humour in most of his art works. A good example of this is an etching that Pro Hart created called The Folly Horse. The Folly Horse , as you can see has 3 women who are representing the horse’s legs .When Pro Hart was asked about the 3 horse’s legs he simply said “It was to make the horse go faster”. with further observation you can also see the women are wearing high heels as they are running and the horse is a checkered pattern.  This sort of humour is in most of Pro Harts works and without knowing the story behind the painting it gives a sense of mystery and wonder.
David Hart Crimson Dragonfly  date unknown
As you walk through the gallery you see the connection of family. David Hart is Pro Harts son. He followed in his father's footsteps and despite the father son relationship, David Hart has formed his own style of artwork. David Hart is known to have a signature dragonfly or dog in most of his paintings. The painting called “Crimson Dragonfly “is so captivating it can only be appreciated fully once viewed in person. It’s situated in the centre of the gallery and is almost like the centrepiece of all the other artworks. Its rich gold frame brings out the slightly gold tinge in the dragonfly wings and the stark, blood red is so compelling you catch yourself staring. I really appreciate this art piece more so once seen in reality.

Chloe Hart Liquid date unknown
The third generation of Hart artists is a young teenager by the name of Chloe Hart. Chloe Hart is David Hart’s daughter who has followed the family tradition to become an artist. Chloe Hart’s work is much more modern in style and technique compared to her father and that of her grandfather Pro Hart. One art piece in particular that stood out to me was her artwork called ‘Liquid’.A very powerful work which captures the audience when they walk through the gallery. The contrast in colours and the simplicity of her piece is really mesmerizing.Chloe Hart is just 16 years old and has started to display her work in her father's gallery. I think there is much more to come from this young artist in the future. There have been some issues with people who have previously purchased Pro Harts work and because of financial situations they have to try and sell the work at a set price. Unfortunately They find it rather difficult to find a price that suits both the previous owner and the potential buyers.

The David Hart gallery is not to be missed!. It has not only family orientated artworks but does contain other artist who fit into the Hart family style. There is a huge sense of connection in this gallery and not to mention how classy the layout is. It was a great experience looking through this gallery and I will definitely  be re- visiting it in the near future.
